TECHNOLOGY
WiFi/Internet:
- You will need a high-speed, internet-connected device to use the mobile app and access the virtual platform.
- If your internet connection is unstable, this may cause streamed sessions on the virtual platform to buffer.
Mobile App:
- The NCMA Meetings and Events app is available for Android and iOS users on the App Store and Google Play.
Virtual Platform:
Recommended devices and browser for virtual attendees:
- For the best attendee experience, use a desktop or laptop computer and fully disconnect from your VPN.
- iPads, tablets, and mobile phones are not recommended.
- The Google Chrome browser is strongly recommended for all users.
- Close all programs and browser sessions running in the background. The session you are watching should be the primary activity on your computer.
Security Restrictions:
- Your company VPN or firewall may prevent you from accessing certain features of the virtual platform. For example, sessions may buffer or not load. To address issues with sessions buffering or not loading, fully disconnect from your VPN and restart your browser, or use a personal computer to access the conference.
- Do not use government-issued computers, or personal devices on government property. Security measures such as agency firewalls frequently prevent access to the virtual platform.
Virtual Networking
Mobile App:
- Find attendees under ‘Networking’ and send them a text message right within the app.
Virtual Platform:
- If you would like to network with other virtual attendees, find their name in the ‘Networking’ area of the virtual lobby. You can send them a text-only message or invite them to a video call. Video calls can be private (one-on-one) or public, allowing anyone on the virtual platform to join. When initiating a video call, click ‘Join as Presenter’ and allow the platform access to your camera and microphone.
NOTE: Only the first 9 participants can join a video call with camera and microphone. Everyone else will join in view- and listen-only mode, and will need to use the ‘Chat’ tab in the room to communicate with other participants
